1 part MOTHER shrub
1 part spirits
2 parts seltzer
Add shrub and spirits to an ice filled glass. Top with seltzer. Stir gently. Serve with your choice of garnish.
Black Cherry Shrub Old Fashioned
1 ounce black cherry MOTHER shrub
Splash of club soda or water
2 ounces bourbon whiskey
Orange slice, for garnish
Add black cherry shrub and a splash of club soda to an old-fashioned glass. Add ice and bourbon and stir. Squeeze orange slice over glass to extract juice and oils, add to glass. Stir again until drink is chilled, then serve.
Grapefruit Shrub Madre
1.5 ounces grapefruit MOTHER shrub
1.5 ounces reposado tequila
.5 ounce orange liqueur
1/4 teaspoon sugar
lime slice, for garnish
Add all ingredients to an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake well. Strain into a sugar or salt rimmed margarita glass and garnish with lime, if desired.
Add a splash of club soda and/or serve over ice, if desired.

4-5 parts sparkling water
Add shrub to an ice-filled glass. Top with sparkling water. Gently stir. Adjust proportions to taste.
MOTHER shrub Royale
4 ounces champagne, sparkling wine, cava, prosecco...
.5 ounce (1 T) cranberry, black cherry or grapefruit MOTHER shrub
Pour 1 T cranberry shrub into a champagne glass followed by 4 ounces champagne or your choice of sparkling wine. Gently stir and serve.
Variations: add a splash of seltzer to spritz it up a bit and make a lighter cocktail.
Hummus w/ Grapefruit shrub
3 14.5 ounce cans of chick peas, drained
1 large clove of garlic, pressed
1 jalapeno, stemmed with seeds removed if desired
Juice of 1 lemon
1/2 - 3/4 cup of olive oil
splash of grapefruit MOTHER shrub (1/2 to 3/4 ounce*)
Combine all ingredients and 1/2 cup of olive oil in the bowl of a food processor and process until smooth. Add more olive oil if too thick. Add more garlic, jalapeno, and shrub to taste. Serve at room temperature.
* 1/2 ounce = 1 Tablespoon
Grapefruit Mint Cocktail Recipe

- 1 part grapefruit MOTHER shrub
- 1 part Tito's Vodka or your choice of spirit
- 1 lime wedge
- 1 bunch of mint
- 2 parts seltzer or sparkling water
- Sugar, to taste
Gently crush mint in the bottom of glass. Add shrub and spirits. Top with seltzer and ice. Squeeze in the juice of a lime wedge. Stir. Serve with a lime as garnish. If the flavor is too sour for you, add a bit of sugar to taste.
Tart and Shiny with Belle Isle Moonshine
- 1 1/2 oz. Belle Isle Ruby Red Grapefruit Moonshine
- 1 1/2 oz. MOTHER shrub grapefruit shrub
- 4 oz. seltzer water
Serve over ice in a highball glass. Garnish with a grapefruit slice. For added oomph, add a splash of prosecco or cranberry shrub.
